Contact!

Wow...I can't believe we'll be leaving for Honduras in just a few short weeks. And the more I prepare, the more I realize how unprepared and insufficient we really are. But it's so amazing to see the sovereign faithfulness of God, and how He has, is, and continues to guide us and give us the strength to do His will. This whole trip is such an answer to prayers, the culmination of a vision that God started months and months ago. And I know He will continue to expand our vision and teach us to serve Him.

One thing that we are soo excited about is that we were finally able to contact some people working with the deaf in Honduras. They have a ministry with deaf people and a school in Tegucigalpa (the capital...quite a ways from Puerto Lempira, but we will be flying into Tegus first and plan on visiting their school while we're there). We also were able to contact a group called "Signs of Love," which is an outreach specifically working with deaf people in rural areas of Honduras (www.signsoflove.org). Through them we will hopefully be able to learn LESHO (the native sign language of Honduras), and really be able to bring these kids their native language--as well as form contacts with other deaf people in the area, so they'll have support and further resources. God is truly blessing us...thanks so much for all of your prayers. :-)

Thank You

We are now up to around $1,400. Thank you Lord and thank you to everyone who has given, you are such an incredible blessing.
We are hoping, with enough funds, to be able to take some teaching supplies and other things for the kids. Planning planning planning--we're getting very excited! Your continued prayers as we prepare are much appreciated.

Progress

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
Ephesians 3:20-21

God is so amazingly good and faithful. Thus far we have raised $892, nearly half of our goal. You guys have been so generous and willing to support us, and we appreciate it so much more than we can express. Fundraising last Saturday went very well...lots of nos but also many many people who gladly said yes (thanks to Ralphs for allowing us to stand outside their store!). Several little children gave us 50 cents or $1 each, which was so much more precious than simply the monetary value.

Things are moving along and coming together; our plane tickets are booked and we will be leaving Sunday, June 11th. We are getting so excited and having lots of fun preparing--even though we know that no amount of preparation will be enough and there will still be a multitude of surprises. We've finally found some information about a deaf community in Tegucigalpa, and will be trying to contact them for any info or help they could give us.

Thank you again for your prayers and support. God bless you!
